LYNNZAY Baatjies’ desire is to minister to those with broken hearts and give them hope for a better future.

Now the 24-year-old East Londoner is one step closer to her destiny after making it to the top 7 of the I Want to Sing Gospel talent show on SABC2.

Baatjies is one of the two Eastern Cape hopefuls in the top 7 of the show.

The other is Mthatha-born singer, Sibu Mbuku.

They are in line to walk away with R200000 and a recording deal.

Season three of I Want to Sing Gospel started early this year, when the show’s producers held auditions at the Eastern Cape Audio Visual Centre (ECAVC).

Of 1000 hopefuls, only five were chosen and among them was a former convict Lusanda Nkosana.

Nkosana made it to the top 10 but was eliminated last week.

Baatjies, part of East London band Chosen, said she believed her purpose in life was to heal the broken and give hope for the future through music.
