Shiro Kasamatsu was born on January 11, 1898, in Tokyo.
At the age of 13, he enrolled in the painting school of Kaburagi Kiyokata, a renowned master in traditional Japanese painting and printmaking. Kasamatsu displayed remarkable talent, and from a young age, his paintings were featured in various exhibitions.
