    Copeland Lumber Yards is having a sale, and everything must go. After being in business since 1913, CEO Helen Jo Whitsell and her husband Bill are selling off the company's 68 yards on a piecemeal basis.

    The company's stores in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and Arizona sell lumber and hardware to do-it-yourselfers, but its biggest customers have traditionally been professional builders and remodelers. Helen Jo Whitsell is the granddaughter of the founder, Joseph Copeland, who started out in the retail business with an Iowa hardware store in the 1880s.
